Yes, by simply adding a mechanical switch to completely turn off appliances that are normally in stand-by we could save a lot of energy

There already are alternatives to fossil fuels, we just need to push them and waste reduction is an important card to play in this scenario.

Urine recycling may be only the first step. Many products contain water. E.g. dehydration of organic trash -> may serve double purpose
